Overview of the Role 🔍
In this role, you will oversee daily cost control, revenue verification, inventory reconciliation, and operational checks to ensure accurate reporting, effective controls, and proper accountability across the business units under your responsibility. You will also support the Financial Controller by identifying variances, strengthening procedures, following up with Heads of Department, and guiding the team in the application of cost control standards.
Key Responsibilities 📋
- Ensure the accurate preparation of daily revenue reports based on night audit reports from the system, and compare results against budget.
- Analyse daily revenue recorded in the system to identify variances, irregularities, or areas where controls and procedures need to be strengthened.
- Prepare statistics, reports, and financial data to support trend analysis, cost monitoring, and budgetary follow-up.
- Monitor purchase prices to ensure they remain aligned with market prices, quality standards, and established cost control requirements.
- Review and support control procedures relating to purchases, receipts, payments, paid-outs to guests, and sales across operational departments.
- Organise, supervise, and reconcile monthly and periodic inventories across relevant departments.
- Approve and follow up on physical stock-taking procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper accountability across all areas of operation.
- Conduct regular inspections of storerooms, cold rooms, freezers, outlets, bars, boutique, and other operational areas to verify stock quality, condition, and compliance with procedures.
- Monitor slow-moving stock, operating equipment losses, fixed asset inventories, and asset tagging, ensuring proper reconciliation and escalation of variances where required.
- Carry out regular spot checks, identify variances or losses, and report findings to the Financial Controller and/or Assistant Financial Controller.
- Maintain regular communication with Heads of Department, and other key stakeholders to support effective cost control and operational follow-up.
Ideal Candidate Profile 🎯
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in cost control, inventory management, finance operations, or a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, irregularities, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Good knowledge of stock control, purchasing procedures, revenue verification, and inventory reconciliation.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow up effectively with operational departments and Heads of Department.
- Good communication skills, integrity, and the ability to support team members through guidance and on-the-job training.
