Overview of the Role π
In this role, you will be responsible for assigned hotels from Veranda Resorts, driving the implementation and continuous improvement of sustainability initiatives by supporting performance monitoring, certification readiness, and the integration of sustainable practices into daily hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities π
- Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives across the assigned hotels.
- Monitor sustainability KPIs and contribute to regular sustainability reporting.
- Assist hotels in preparing for sustainability certifications and audits (e.g. Green Key).
- Participate in operational meetings and coordinate sustainability actions with hotel departments.
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and sustainable operational practices.
- Support environmental initiatives within the hotels, including landscaping and biodiversity actions where relevant.
- Contribute to the development of standardized sustainability manuals, checklists and reporting tools.
- Support the creation and implementation of a Hotel Sustainability Toolkit to guide operational teams.
- Assist in establishing sustainability SOPs and operational guidelines across the hotels.
- Support the appointment and engagement of Sustainability Champions within hotel departments.
- Assist in delivering sustainability awareness sessions and operational training workshops.
- Contribute to the progressive transfer of sustainability operational tasks to hotel departments.
- Monitor progress of the transition toward departmental ownership of sustainability practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile π―
- Bachelorβs Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Experience in sustainability, environmental management or hospitality operations is preferred.
- Understanding of sustainability standards or certifications (e.g. Green Key).
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability topics such as energy management, water conservation and waste reduction is preferred.
- Strong coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with operational teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication and awareness-building skills.
- Analytical ability to monitor sustainability indicators and performance data.
